Guide to sponsoring a child

You can sponsor a child by contacting DCI by e-mail/letter/telephone. Please include the child's name and ID number (Search our online database) or if you prefer we can select a child for you. We need your full name, mailing address, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses to set up a sponsorship account for you.

You can also sponsor a child right now through our website by using the following steps.

Step 1: REGISTER
If you have not done so, please Register

Step 2: SEARCH
Search our online database of children who need to be sponsored. You can search by gender and age.

Step 3: ADD TO WISHLIST
Click "Sponsor Me" button to add a child to your wishlist for sponsorship.

Step 4: COMPLETE SPONSORSHIP
Once you've selected all the chlidren you want to sponsor, click "Complete sponsorship". It takes you to the checkout page.

Step 5: PAYMENT
Review your selecetion and make the payment to sponsor the children. You can pay by Paypal or by Check. The details of how to pay is provided on checkout.

Step 6: NOTIFICATION
On completion, DCI will be notified of your request. You will also get an email receipt. The email receipt will contain the ID numbers of the children you are sponsoring. Please use these ID(s) for all correspondence with DCI.

Step 7: STAY IN TOUCH
Here is a detail guide on how to communicate with the sponsored child. Write letters/cards to your child. Send an e-mail/e-card Send special gifts, and visit your child. Please send any letters or photos, feedback and comments to our offices in USA or Dhaka.

Please note, There is a minimum of a one-year commitment necessary to sponsor a child. We encourage our sponsors to support the same child throughout their education for as long as they are able to. This will allow their sponsored children to continue their education and facilitate development of a relationship between the sponsor and the sponsored. One can sponsor a child or children individually, or with his/her friends, co-workers, or organization.
